Event Description: Each year, through the efforts of the Education Golf Tournament, the Chamber of Commerce ensures that county educators and students are provided continued education opportunities and financial assistance for college through scholarships. As a result, the individual students who have benefited from the tournament include over 10,000 that have participated in the JobReady program, a partnership between the Chamber and Onslow County Schools, and approximately 80 teachers who have received Scholarships to Coastal Carolina Community College. Proceeds from the Education Golf Tournament are also used to honor the Onslow County Teachers and Principal of the Year at the “Salute to Excellence” Breakfast. The tournament is Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Jacksonville Country Club. Tee off will be at 12:00 noon. Lunch at 11:00am, prior to tee off, beverages during the tournament, one tee buster and one mulligan per player and goodie bags will be provided. Cost will be $450.00 per five man team, the fifth player will be an educator selected by a blind draw. The cost for a team and a hole sponsorship is $550, which includes a $50 discount for the purchase of both. The 1st Place team will receive a corporate trophy that will remain in their place of business throughout the year to enhance “bragging rights.” Personalized trophies for each player will also be given out and one-half of the team’s $600 winnings will be donated to the school of their choice and the other half to the school of the educator on the team. The Second and Third Place teams will be awarded $400 and $200 respectively, half to be donated to the school of their choice and the other half to the school of the educator on the team. We understand how precious time is and realize that you may not be able to play in the tournament. However, your commitment to education can still be shown through sponsorships. This year hole sponsorships are $150.00. A hole sign placed on the course will provide your business excellent visibility for those participating in the tournament. We also need items to be donated for door prizes as well as items for the golfer’s goodie bags. Jones-Onslow EMC and First Citizen’s Bank are corporately sponsoring this tournament. Due to popular demand, we will be having our Bucket Ball Drop again, so don’t miss out!
